random Katsu notes! Which shall be disjointed and in bullet form, as I am still too con-hungover for coherent thought:

-spent most of it tailing the awesome [livejournal.com profile] vikki whom was not only a most gracious host but so very patient with my weirdness, tiredness, weirdness from tiredness, and tendency towards property damage. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I would not have had the time that I did otherwise, methinks. ALSO GUYS, GUYS, SHE'S AN AMAZING AMERICA I think half of the con must've thought we hated eacho ther with how often I was bellowing across rooms at her, though.

-spent an amusing amounts bumming around in UK gettup, which both fit surprisingly decently and was recognized far more often than I expected! I've never really done a costume that was 1) really a COSTUME or 2) a highly recognizable one, so it was really flattering and amazing that it got so much attention! I'd been really assuming Hetalia was still hella obscure.

- was not, contrary to many's assumptions, a nazi. CONTRARY TO THE ASSUMPTIONS MADE BY THE NEO NAZI WHO TRIED TO PICK ME UP. WHUT. (besides if we want to be really technical, the uniform was actually, uh, American. seriously if I'd gotten that one more time I would've flipped it open and waved the logo at them) "BLAST IT ALL, I WORKED HARD TO SAVE YOU FROM THOSE BASTARDS."

(I was less adverse to being mistaken for 1) someone from Pumpkin Scissors, which happened once or twice and pleased me simply for the fact it meant people had actually watched Pumpkin Scissors and 2) Conrad from KKM. It hadn't occurred to me until about the second time it happened that it was actually a pretty easy mistake to make. I WAS VERILY AMUSED)

-managed to run into [livejournal.com profile] mithrigil, [livejournal.com profile] puella_nerdii, and [livejournal.com profile] lindensphinx on the registration line in their AWESOME COSTUMES. (Revolution era US and UK, and HUNGARY I WAS SO HAPPY TO SEE A HUNGARY), while tooling around with [livejournal.com profile] vikki's America. Much in character snarking and general history nerding occurred. I am so sorry I did not manage to run into you guys more because that was pretty epic!

ETA: okay wait, this is a lie. Ran into them PRIOR to the line when Mith gave driveby shoutouts I do doubletake (hey wait--that's mith! MIITH) and then Vikki proceeded to flag her down again yelling MITH! MITH! MOONSHEEN! MOONSHEEEEN. con doubletakes all around.

-"Finland? ...Finland!" ...then yelled at a France that turned out to be someone I'd been introduced to earlier for the alimony from the thousand-year-ago divorce. Hetalia cosplay makes you do really wonky things.

-Devil May Be Really Awesome. No, seriously. Devil May Be REALLY REALLY Awesome. Blood, Sweat, and Tears went into this exhibition skit and the results were PRETTY GODDAMN EPIC. Vikki's Dante is spectacular in so many ways, the least of which being the way she bravely weathered the Projectile Ouran Cosplayer that nearly barrelled her through a store window. (GUYS GUYS, FLYING GLOMP WHEN COSPLAYER IS CARRYING A VERY LARGE, POINTY, AND BREAKABLE PROP? MAYBE NOT THE BEST TACTICAL CHOICE). Props also to her spectacular Trish (who was in fact actually sweet as anything) and her friggin' awesome Nero. Who has appropriate balls of steel and bloody stitched his barbed wire vest together BY HAND. Um. Shit guys. Pretty much every cosplayer I hung out with this weekend was amazing. ANYWAY GO WATCH THEIR AWESOME SKIT

-saw first Katsucon Masquerade! I'd heard the Katsu masquerade's considered the most competitive on the East coast but hearing about it and seeing it in action are entirely two different things. What an amazingly high quality line up that was! There were only two or three skits that were a little groan worthy but even then, not a one of them was outright TERRIBLE. Not to mention the thing was so efficiently run I was impressed, especially given what utter chaos that Saturday was. (also, a Special Thanks to the great Hetalia skit at the Masque, for ensuring that WAY MORE PEOPLE RECOGNIZED ME AND VIKKI THE NEXT DAY. We had a very good 'we're not nazis!!" clean streak until the very end of Sunday!)

-SATURDAY KICKED EVERYONE'S ASS. I really don't know what it was. I think eventually we all concluded it was some sort of Valentine's curse. It was rounded out rather nicely by the Masquerade but all and all I don't think anyone really knows quite what hit them.

-Highlights from the Ball: "Hey, the Greeks are excellent at fighting! ...EACH OTHER." (re: ....Greek History. All of it. All of it. God bless my heritage, guys.)

"FIVE! METERS! LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO(stops for breath, mith's still going) OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG!"

...a visit from the Great Britannia Angel. Oh Great Britannia Angel!!

-Sunday was spent largely hungover in various ways, but turned out surprisingly fun. COSTUME MALFUNCTION ensured very awkward moments with total strangers in Hyatt restroom first thing. Day was then considerably brightened by an adorable Teddie cosplayer bearing flowers which proved a godsend to an up-until-then rose-less UK! Thank you! You turned my day around! Then proceeded to meet up with a whole boatload of Hetalia cosplayers, for a nearly necessary jaunt to McDonalds (and Subways). Hilarity ensued. Observed Lithuanian Independance Day. Stole America's fries.

-Met up with yet more Hetalia cosplayers! This time a really absolutely lovely group consisting of [livejournal.com profile] yeu, [livejournal.com profile] rukawagf, and a number of others whose internet identities I do not know! There was Korea, Russia, Lithuania, Taiwan (!), Hong Kong (!!!), Japan, China, and America (vikki). They let clunky ol' me tag along to their really great impromptu shoot, for which I am eternally grateful as it was really such a blast. Because a Korea was involved with this, included much, much groping. My con had been surprisingly devoid of this up until this point. Surprising, given the general bra-less state my failure at binding reduced me too.

-aaand then i went home and put on a bra again? ... okay there's more than that. but i am tired and have already forgotten far too many names. so expect more at a later date when muun is once again conscious.

-zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
