LJ-CUT NO JUTSU. Hope this works.
Hmm. And continuing on the theme of series that are breaking my heart this week, I JUST saw the last episode of Princess Tutu.
...This series really is Utena and Ojamajo Doremi's love child, and in keeping with its Utena parentage it's entirely on CRACK.
I loved the ending of Utena. And, after some thought, I like the ending of Princess Tutu, too. The Raven is Defeated! Story Ends! The Prince and the Princess go off happily together in their flying chariot to go live Happily Ever After!
And Ahiru stays a duck.
THAT did it for me. Sure, the town is back to normal. Really normal. And hey, Neko-sensei even got married but...Well, the scene with Pique and Lilie walking along with that gap between them, pausing, and shrugging is where it really hits you that this is NOT such a happy ending afterall. You keep waiting for the 'allright, NOW she's going to change into a girl again!' scene that never happens. Ahiru started out the story a duck and ends it a duck. It works. It makes sense. It IS who Ahiru is, but..Gah, it still pulls some heartstrings. She saves the Prince, but he goes off with another Princess; she saves the people of the town, but they don't remember her. The only one she really has in the end is Fakir, who promised to stay by her side, even if she is just a duck. I love this ending.
...But that doesn't stop the fangirl in me from CRYING for the lost FakirxAhiru schmoopyness. Which had really grown on me over the course of the series. Damn you last episode! They're supposed to sparkle and get married and have lotsa babies together! Nooo.
...But damn do I love you, series, for having the balls to do that.
Meanwhile, there's an empty backpack lying by my closet, and my old notebooks are spilled all over the floor. Highschool really is over. Maybe I should take my mom's advice and have a ritual burning. Hmm.
