Anko-Orochimaru snippet

...Because there's something about Orochimaru and ink that's strangely alluring.

She found her sensei in the garden that morning, resting in the grass with a scroll stretched out before him. The girl paused on the path to watch, fascinated. The brush moved gracefully, black ink on white paper and fingertips. He looked up when she stumbled on the stones, and finished off the script with one clean, sharp stroke.
"Anko," he greeted, raising a hand to her. "Come here."
Flushed, the girl bit her lip and obeyed, kneeling across from him; hands clenched over skinned knees. "Sensei--" she began.
"I’m glad to see you didn’t step off the path." He smiled, setting the brush aside. "It would be a pity for me to lose such an…Interesting pupil so early on, wouldn’t you say?"
The garden seemed to stir with a hungry answering hiss. Anko swallowed and ducked her head .
"No need to look so troubled," her sensei murmured, lifting the glass he’d set near the inkwell and taking a sip. "Consider it a test of faith. Here--" He held it out to her. "Drink this."
She took it without question. It was sweet, and warm in her throat. "What is it?" She asked, grimacing at the aftertaste: Bitter. And her tongue itched.
Her sensei chuckled. "Ah." He pressed a finger to his lips almost absently. "Just a new poison Tsunade’s been researching."
"…Oh." Anko said, and Orochimaru’s eyes glittered approvingly from very far away indeed, as a thousand needles flared to life in her blood.

Not sure how old Anko is here. Eight, nine maybe? Ah well. And no, I have no idea why I'm so late (or early, considering). But I'd say the heat might have something to do with it. Argh. x.x
