I love you for this. Good lordie, you have a wit that's endless! Or has an end that's beyond my field of view, in any case. Out of all the characters, I liked Corny the least. Not that I hated him or anything, but he was just too... good. I almost hoped something would come along and tear his life apart. Besides being a Pooka, of course. He took that in too fine a stride. (I enjoyed the ending where his grandfather ate him. Maybe that took some of the chivalry out of him.) But my favourite thing ever uttered by him? "I have a magic sword!" ...My friend and I could not stop laughing. Nor have we ceased to strike epic poses out of the blue and boldly declare that, hey, we have a magic sword. Not that anyone gets the reference. Uneducated fools that they are.... >_>
"She freaks the hell out. Then she picks herself up and guns the opposition down, all on the valuable advice of a surprisingly well-spoken frog. Oh, yeah. This game went there." Word. Mercedes and Ingway, easily my top two characters. I thought it would be Gwendolyn, but of course no one loves her. So I had to pick the other chick with wings and the guy with the past full of delicious angst and drama. Mmm. The taste of a life filled with bitter disappointments, betrayal, trauma, and really crappy endings anyway you cut the cake. That's what I'm talking about. (Poor guy probably had it better as a frog. But he wasn't nearly has smexy. Something about the slime and slightly green hue.) Honestly, he seemed like one of the more realistic characters, even though he didn't get his own book (WHY?!), probably because he was actually affected by the crappy stuff that happened to him. You know, unlike his sister or Gwen or Cornelius. "What? I've been turned into a Pooka and there's no fixing it? Well, jolly good." "Oh? I've been disowned and forced to marry the man who killed my sister? Well, I suppose that's fine." "You blew up our country, screwed our people, impersonated me, turned my boyfriend into a Pooka and dropped him in the Underworld, lost a game of political chess, and have the nerve to patronize my use of the Psypher? That's cool. I'm into furries."
...Yeah. Believe it or not, I actually like all the characters. I just sometimes wonder what it will take to shake their eternally optimistic views and hinder their steps a little. If the End of the World ain't enough to do it, I don't know what is...
