a hetalia/d.gray-man crossover
Summary: During the stopover in China, Rinali finds an old friend.
Rating: G

“Yes. You should eat with me,” he says, severely. “England’s food has not agreed with you. You look pale.”

Rinali very nearly drops her dumplings. She has not seen him in a very long time.

She can’t find Allen. This worries her. She can’t help herself. It’s a big city. He doesn’t know the language. He has a terrible habit of finding trouble when they’re separated. These are all things that should require an immediate backtrack. Instead, Rinali walks along the docks. Her family’s old friend walks a few steps ahead of her. He doesn’t look much different from when she was a little girl. A little more tired, maybe, but he walks with his arms folded behind him and his back a straight, proud line. There is something imperious about him. For all that he has been diminished in this last century he still manages to look like the lord of all he surveys.

“Are you angry?” she asks. He has not spoken in some time. He pauses, glancing back at her, waiting for her to catch up. She’d been dawdling, with her worry. She presses her skirts close to her thigh, as though that might protect her from the dock hand's stares, and old women’s disapproval at her English dress. If she is lucky, that is all it is. If she is not, it is an enemy lying in wait for her. The Noah’s interference still rings in her head. Her step isn’t as quick as it should be.

“There is much that I find displeasing,” he says, when she is beside him.

It’s not the answer she’s looking for. “Are you angry with me?”

His brow furrows. It’s not the question he’s expecting. “For what?” His voice is calm, with only a hint of impatience. Rinali smiles and ducks her head.

“For leaving,” she says, smiling even if it kills her. Across the waters she sees the ships come to port. Some of them belong to him, most of them do not. One of them will be taking her away again, soon. “And not returning.”

He shakes his head. “Don’t be foolish. Why should I be angry with you?”

She covers her mouth. Because I have found another place to return, she doesn’t say. Because I have betrayed you and all my family who lived and died here, she doesn’t say.

“It is the Church that has taken you from me,” he says.

The God that she hates. The God that encompasses all that she now has. “Forgive me,” she says, the way that God asks her too. Forgive me Father for I have--no, no, no. “I have to go back. I’ve lost my friend. If I don’t find him now he will be more lost than ever.”

“I know,” says the old friend of her family. For just a moment, his face is lined and worn. He sighs. “These young fools. War or not, they have always taken the best from me.”

Rinali throws her arms around him. She feels him tense under the sudden contact. He’s always prized certain distances, certain protocol, but she can’t help herself, and after a moment or two he eases. Rinali doesn’t cry. Not here, not now. But she buries her face against his chest as though she were a little girl. “I thought of you every day,” she tells him. “I still think of you.” Even if you are no longer my home. Even if I can never go back. Even if there is still a war I must fight. I will still always think of you.

“Then that is good,” he says. “As long as a part of me is in your thoughts, I shall remain.”

Shh, don't tell. But I haven't either. At least, not from the beginning, although I read the latest chapters in bunches now and again. ._.

China has good reason to be angry at how England's been feeding his girl!

And um, ahaha oh gosh really? d-dare I ask for the link

It's okay...I tend to do that with most JUMP manga...

Lo Mein > Bangers?

(`ω´*) You look really cool, so I don't see why not! That is, unless having a bunch of Japanese Hetalia fans squeeing over you isn't your cup of tea...

At first it was fine, but then I started thinking about how Japan feels, with all those Akuma and it just got worse from there.
