BEAST! WARS!!!!

-my god the pilot is baaaad, stiffly animated, terrible puns bad. I'm beginning to realize why the fandom (my first online fandom!) hated Cheetor! I was lucky to mostly remember Cheetor from the later episodes after they ditched the stupid catchphrases and stopped making every other ep his big dumb adventures. After that, Cheetor and me were TOTALLY COOL.
-bad dialogue in the pilot aside, everything Rattrap says is comedy gold.
-OH BEAST WARS MEGATRON BE STILL MY HEART, YESSSSSS (...his VA has a little too much fun making the guy cream himself over huge mounds of Energon, just saying) also. big purple dinosaur. he's supposed to be menacing sometimes but BIG PURPLE DINOSAUR. i... i love when he gesticulates with his teeny little claws.
-loving Optimus way more than I remember. His crew is made of nutbags! He totally knows it and is mildly exasperated with it! He is the Team Daddy. Rhinox is the Mom.
-wow the animation is oooold. I remember how sharp and reflective it is in the last season (the one I remember most clearly) and boggle at how far it came from the first eps.
-I see how we're initially supposed to think Dinobot's the Starscream. But then he fails at being the Starscream with that unfortunate tendency to ACTUALLY HAVE A PAIR. Remember how everyone and their mother wanted to marry Dinobot? Remember how I was totally one of those people? Honorable traitor with a devious streak and a tendency to spout off random gouts of Shakespeare? SO MY TYPE. and everyone else on the internet, apparently. You can Mary Sue him all you want but I think we all know where his heart truly lies.honor rattrap ... honor, totally honor.
-in an entirely unrelated note I now know where I first discovered teh hoyay!WHY
-still indifferent to Scorponok and Terrorsaur (the actual poor man's Starscream)
-also remember how Scott McNeil voiced pretty much everyone in this series? Scott McNeil as Dinobot! Scott McNeil as Rattrap! Scott McNeil as Waspinator! Scott McNeil as Black Arachnia-- okay, he was Silverbolt, too. But you know he probably auditioned for Black Arachnia. You know he probably could've done it. In fact, I think secretly Scott McNeil plays everyone on this show.
-so take a shot for every time he gets in an argument with himself
-omg i totally had that toy!!111
-psst, everyone. go judge Chira for me Go judge her. As AMAZING.

Date: 2009-07-11 11:44 am (UTC)The start of Beast Wars was slow, but I think a lot of cartoons suffer this, usually because they're trying to find their footing and get views before really expanding. Because man, when things got going in that show, just everything was awesome. I went on a Beast Wars watch binge a few months ago so still not ready for a re-watch yet.
Everyone's hot for Dinobot (he still has a place in my heart ;_; )

- I loved Cheetor to death, but rewatching I was like 'WHYYYY?' He's a dipshit.
- Rattrap oh my god.
- Rhinox is definitely the mom.
Do you know how excited I was to get the Megatron toy I always wanted for Christmas but never got, and then at a convention I totally saw one and was like 'omg that's mine' and I bought it and just omg. And then I got my Cheetor later and I was a happy girl.

TM2 Dinobot was my favorite because it was a friggin' awesome looking toy, I thought all the TM2 line was. (also had DRAGON MEGATRON!!!!! and Tigerhawk. Which is funny when the character was so tragically boring, but had the most beautiful toy!)
