And I second that GUH. Though I keep hoping for no casualties--problem with this series, don't wanna see anyone get toasted--Shikamaru does seem a very likely target. Because let's face it, the most well meaning ninja get crap in this series. Proven fact.
Man, as if there weren't already enough angst-vibes coming off of the Inoshikacho team to begin with--which is, if you think about it, broken up no matter how things go, with Shikamaru having advanced ahead of the others.
(Don't get me started on if Lee is the one to go...)
It's horrid, but as soon as I saw the Gaping Shoulder Wound (TM), I immediately suffered from the mental image of Gai chipping golfballs thru it. (Again--I'm no doctor, but I think Neji could probably need that connective tissue. O__O)
Shit, man, the last thing I want to see is Shikamaru or Lee punished for their good natures. That would, quite honestly, break my heart.
Also. I really don't want to be forced to hate Sasuke after all is said and done.
(On one hand, I really would applaud Kishimoto for having the balls to kill off a handful of underage ninja in one nihilistic sweep; on the other, no. Just, no.)
There are only a few major ARTERIES around there, right? Though from the looks of it the wound might have been cauterized when the arrow passed through....Which might buy him...some time. Not alot. But. Not exactly an expert, either.
If Kishimoto kills even one of the genin team, it's definately steering the series along a much darker tack than ANY of the earlier story arcs. Not sure how to take the idea, on the one hand, yeah, that does take balls, on the other, no one wants the underage ninja to die.
And it's funny, second thing my dear Kii said to me after reading this chapter was: "You could hit a GOLFBALL through that!"
