in the interim
May. 3rd, 2004 11:47 pmSo, for my birthday (which is actually in a couple of hours, but I'm at school so actual celebrating happened last saturday. with sushi.) my grandmother gave me a book. An old, old illustrated copy of Han Christian Anderson's The Snow Queen. And I open it up. It's been signed by both the illustrator and the translator, but what got me was what was written on the page before that-- a note addressed "To Erma" (my grandmother) "With Love, Mom and Dad. Christmas, 1939." And right next to this note, is another addressed "To Alex" and signed "Mama. Happy Birthday. 2004."
...that was the best thing, I think.
Even better than the Summoner in hotpants.
PS: while in the process of writing this I have been thoroughly doused with silly string and bigass balloons. Courtesy of roommate and roommate's ninja boyfriend. Love you guys, and thank you.
