Disney's Guide to Alternative Lifestyles
The young lioness pricked her head up over the grasses and stared across the savannah with wide eyes and a keyblade in her teeth.
“Did it…work…?” she asked cautiously, looking around.
She saw the sway of a red tail over her shoulder. She thought about it for a second, swished it to the right, curled it to the left, felt the blades of grass tickle against it, and realized, with dawning excitement, that it was her tail and that it was firmly attached.
“It worked!” She turned, victorious, and immediately lost track of her left hindquarter. She stumbled, but she didn’t care because-- “The spell! Sora, Ri—”
The brown and white blur hit her before she had the time to YELP.
…afterwards, Kairi inspected her claws. They were curved and black and nearly delicate looking. She hooked the chain of her locket over one, and dangled it in front of her nose, lifting her whiskers slightly. She drew her claws back, and the locket fell back against her chest. She blinked. It all felt so strange.
Sora rubbed his muzzle bitterly. “...didn’t get you that hard.”
“That still wasn’t very nice.”
“You called me cute when we got here.”
“You’re a fuzzy little lion, Sora.” Kairi looked at him: his ears flat against his skull, and his tail curled close around his hindquarters. She tipped her head, and padded over, rubbing her shoulder against him as she slid past.
“And what,” she said, grinning. “I can’t call you that when you’re not a fuzzy little lion anymore?”
“That’s…” …Sora was purring before he could stop himself. “Wha--? …NO I mean, uh. You think I’m. What? What?”
“Dope.” Kairi swaggered ahead. She thought was getting the hang of this, maybe. “DOPES. You should come out now, Riku.”
“…no,” came a flat growl, from the higher grasses.
It sounded positively miserable. Sora’s spirits were renewed. He picked his rump up off of the ground. “Oh, c’mon Riku! Can’t be that bad.”
“This is ridiculous.”
“What,” said Sora, “Are you fluffy?”
“I didn’t say I was fluffy. I said this is ridiculous.”
“So you’re fluffy.”
“I didn’t say that.”
“Riku,” said Kairi reasonably, coming up to the patch that the voice issued from most strongly, “Simba wanted Sora to come to the presentation, didn’t he? So he has to go!”
“That’s right,” said Sora.
“…” said the grass.
Kairi stuck her nose in, and pressed on. “And we all made a promise didn’t we?”
“That’s right,” grinned Sora…who dropped down onto his haunches and vanished from Kairi’s sight.
She hoped this wasn’t going to be a theme in this world. She bent farther forward, gazing meaningfully.
“Remember?” she whispered.
“…well, yeah,” murmured Riku, as their noses brushed. “Yeah, I—AH.”
And the scruffy grey lion leaped out of the brush; a gangly adolescent thing, who was nevertheless big enough to knock Kairi off of all four feet when he barreled into her head on.
“WHERE EVER ONE OF US GOES, THE REST WILL FOLLOW,” crowed Sora, emerging behind him with a mouthful of crooked tail: which was bandaged and tipped by a tuft of blonde fur so pale that it looked silver. “ ‘Cause no one’s getting left behind—aw gee, Riku, you’re not that fluffy.”
Riku growled. “I never said that I was!”
“… I didn’t think you did.”
“Thank you, Kairi.”
“…but I do think you’re still heavy.”
…Riku got off of her with a vaguely apologetic slouch.

'Cause I've always pictured lion!Riku with a manenot that I've ever given it much thought or anything. Uhh.no subject
"...hey...how come he has more of a mane than me?!"
"Sora..."
"Aw man, now this is ridiculous. ...well, 'least I got a better roar."
"You can roar, Sora?"
"Yeah! Simba showed me how..."
Which is to say: Riku has the TLK teenmane. Which is basically... mostly his normal mophead except with a little around his chest too. He's still got a ways to grow yet!
...he also walks basically exactly the same. Minus the one hand occupied with keeping his pants from falling down.
