Several fics have eaten me, and now I happen to have Shizune eyeing me requesting politely that I write her backstory. As well as Kiba's brothers clamoring for a chance to appear and embarass the HELL outta him. I like the idea of Kiba being the runt of the litter, damnit.

Naruto 41. Great episode. I thought it was well done, even if the animation couldn't seem to make up its mind whether to suck or to kick ass. Sakura really needs more fight scenes--what we get of her is pretty neat.

Obligatory ficsnippet: this is one of the ones that's been chewing on me lately.

Hinata was never sure what it was that had her up at that time of night.

She’d woken up a little before midnight lying for an hour afterwards awake in her bed, tucked comfortably in covers that offered her no escape from a hot summer night, and so she finally pushed it all aside and taken to walking down the grey halls, with a hope that maybe sleep might come from a garden breeze. The house had always seemed so large to her, and even though she was no longer a little girl it still sometimes felt as though it might swallow her whole if she wasn’t careful. It was always an incentive to move quickly between her room and anywhere else she might decide to go. Fast, and quiet, and undetected. When it came to stealth her teachers hadn’t needed to scold her too badly. The open entrance to the garden was a welcome sight for a moment. A clear night hung over the east wall.

There was bloody hand print on the door.

The recognition what inexplicable and instant. She swallowed. Red on the white shoji, wet and warm when she touched it with her own trembling hand. Pink she’d once found across the skin on her own stomach in a hospital wing, stinging first-degree burns the shape of fingers. Her heart stuttered, and she ran out barefoot to see that, sure enough, there was blood on the steps and in the grass too. Red on moldy grey, red on crisped green, she followed its staggered path down towards the north wall where she found him sprawled up against the vine infested stones, with a hand pressed to his temple, and there the blood welled through those fingers and down his face.

Her first horrible thought was that they’d done it. They’d actually done it. And Hinata couldn’t imagine who (a lie her father an elder her sister it was easy it was so easy) or why (another lie for anything really anything at all) they might’ve—

It was when he squinted up at her from under his hand with both eyes gummed up but very much in tact that she remembered that he’d been away on a mission for the past week, had probably only just returned, and that he’d watched her plant a few new herbs a last fall. They’d been a gift from Shizune. Good for cuts, the woman had said.

"They’re on the other side," Hinata told him softly, touching his wrist and trying to see just how bad it was. "I’m sorry. I…I should have marked them." His hand wouldn’t move. "Please-

"Hinata-sama," he murmured tiredly, "What are you doing up this late?"

Beginning of that schmoopy fic I mentioned a few posts back. Unspecified point in the future. Might go further with it, if I gain back that five AM seemed-like-a-good-idea-at-the-time courage I had when I first wrote it.

I also notice I like to stage things in gardens. Though I can safely say there's a difference between the Hyuga's gardens and Orochimaru's. Orochimaru's being a bit more...Exotic, to say the least. The only thing that'll eat you in a Hyuga garden is a pissed off Hyuga.

Oooh.. Hyuga fic. I applaud you. There's one family I wouldn't dare write.

As well as Kiba's brothers clamoring for a chance to appear and embarass the HELL outta him. I like the idea of Kiba being the runt of the litter, damnit.

As do I, but only because he's a favorite character. (I love abusing my favorite characters. Just ask Orochimaru...) And everyone knows there aren't enough Kiba stories in this world. (That goes for Shino too, but it's a lot harder to find people who appreciate Shino and his buggy-creepiness potential.)

Hehe, I appreciate Shino's buggy-creepiness potential. I happen to find the mental image of Shino, standing calmly with his palm turned up and insects pouring steadily out of his wrist and through his fingers rather charming. That and there's so much that can be done with the Aburame clan. Hmm.

Kiba's fun to abuse, just because he has some the BEST reaction to things. He's like Naruto, except snarlier and louder. Even better when he's driving himself crazy trying to goad a reaction out of guys like, say, Shino.

That and there's so much that can be done with the Aburame clan.

Too true. I have found myself in a position where I'd love to draw unseen members from the Aburame clan (especially Shino's mother) but find myself lost as to what the women would dress like as we never learn. And even though the ninja world seems to be suffering from the "Lady and Tramp effect" (where the children share looks/personalities one of two parents ie: Shino looks *just* like his father), this still gives us no clue as to what she would look like. It's all rather frustrating for me. ;P

I'd love to be their neighbors though. Hehheh... (I'd love to be any ninja family's neighbors. Except maybe Orochimaru, cause I have the feeling that if a neighbor ever came by asking if they could borrow a cup of sugar they'd never be seen again...)

And Kiba has the best reactions to everything. Most of those reaction being a "What?" or a "Grr!!" which makes him fun to play with. He's a lot like Naruto, and his interactions with both Shino and Hinata are wonderful. (I bet Shino used to give him the creeps when they first met. :P)

Aburame woman: I think Praying Mantis. Tall, spindly, long-armed, long-fingered, with a LOT of dark, frayed scarves wound around and obscuring the bottom part of her face. And the same glasses, with stringy, stiff hair that could really either be super short or super long. Er, maaaybe not cannabilistic like a female mantis, but I've always wondered if the Aburame clan might be matriarchal, what with how insect social systems tend to work.

Shino prolly STILL creeps Kiba out on occasion. Though these day Kiba sort of takes it as the norm, and besides he's got that whole 'I'm the alpha male here!!!' mentality to uphold. Damn Aburame show off. ...And I bet Kiba worried for the longest time about getting, like, mutant fleas from him or something.

Yeah, I bet Kiba was real worried about the mutant fleas attacking his brain! Aaagh!! (Or.. maybe not)

That visual of Aburame women is too neat. (must.draw.hand.moving.uncontrollably...)

And Shino creeps everybody out on occasion. His lack of people skills combined with the fact that he fights with bugs that live in his body is hard for most others to understand. Don't really blame them. But we know that deep down inside (underneath the bugs) he really cares about his teammates. Aww...

Kiba would probably worry about OTHER things if he ever..A-hem.

Aww. Shino can't help it if he's more used to communing with insects than people. Insects are a lot quieter, and probably make a heckuva lot more sense to him than humans, who do some pretty CRAZY things. It's all about subtlety for Shino. And Kiba probably dun know the meaning of the word. (Cue Kurenai very calmly whacking him with a rolled up newspaper and explaining)

I've always seen Kiba as having a lot of sisters-loud, obnoxious, fond of embarrassing their baby brother, which is why he likes Hinata so much-because she's quiet.

Great fic start.

With Kiba's luck, he'd probably have those too. The Inuzuka house's got to be a crowded place. Big family. Big dogs.

All an excuse to have cute fanart of Hinata with lots of puppies around her. It's a plot.

Your Hyugafics please me beyond words, and I already completely believe your Hinata. The stealth makes sense, the panic, immediate apology.. and particularly that bit about feeling as though the house would swallow her whole rang very true to character. Anyway, Hyuga's and gardens by night! How can one not appreciate these things. I do hope you continue.

Besides the fact that Hinata doesn't have an older sister but a younger one (and where IS her mom?) I really like this... it is very IC and I can so picture creeping around in the dark silently because she is scared and Neji trying to heal himself alone and quietly so none finds out he is injured...

please continue this... you don't need courage to post something this good!!!
