Today, I was being a good girl and studying my Bible for an upcoming midterm when I happen to look down to see this lovely lady staring up at me from the foot of my desk. Isn't she beautiful? She's a little more than an inch long and, according to google, will not kill me, but will run around at night and 'if found with a flashlight, their eyes glow'. It also states that she is very aggressive and will bite if annoyed. As she took a charge at my roommate, I will believe this. Also, her scientific name has 'rabida' in it. She's currently under the heater on the other side of the room.

It's a small comfort.

We're... just glad that she isn't toting her younguns on her back. Apparently this species does that too.

Yes, yes, this species does do that. I know this because I had an up close and personal encounter with a mommy wolf spider carrying about fourteen thousand baby wolf spiders, about two inches from my face, at a very impressionable age.

M, scarred for life -- figuratively, no literally.

Half her size and possibly devoured after mating. I don't know. I didn't look up the courtship rituals of this fine lady.

YOU DON'T. ALL IS FAIR IN WAR AND INSECT GENOCIDE.

Do you have boots? Put on your boots and stomp around a bit. Maybe it'll feel threatened and try to besiege your feet, and then you can step on it.

Goodness, she is lovely.

I have that species living in my basement. They like to eat mealworms. (They will peel them open with their mouths and eat the gooshy insides. It is quite a sight.)

We think she must've wandered in during the storm last night. I'm sort of hoping she wanders out some time tonight, mostly because we don't have much by way of bugs in our room and I don't want to step on her. (also, I don't want her crawling on my FACE, but teh internet informs me she's not a weaving type and prefers the ground like a good, sensible creature. also, she'll carry her babies on her back and not in my cheek THANK YOU SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK.)

My roommate's boyfriend was staked out next to the heater waiting to give her a whallop with his shoe. I was trying not to ;_; TOO loudly at the prospect. (I once, like, cried when I accidentally squished a daddy long legs trying to put it someplace safe.)

I personally would be sleeping at a friends house. ^_^`` I like spiders. Outside. And not hanging over my head. (Omg, looking up to see a spider just hanging there is so beyond creepy.)
Those are really pretty markings though.

Will exit the premises before said items cause me to get shot by unamused parties.

She is a beauty. Of course, if I found her in my room, there might be more panicking and less cooing.
...possibly because I've never seen such a large spider. The ones that manage to insinuate themselves in my room are nondescript, small terrors that prefer the ceiling and walls and rappel down near my head sometimes.

I have a lot of the little ones in my house! They do the rounds on the ceiling and on occasion parachute to meet me. Nothing says 'GAH' then suddenly finding a spider dangling between you and the computer screen.

IT IS BIG AND SCARY AND IT IS A SPIDER.

...It is also more than ten times the size of any spider I have ever seen around my house.

Keep a heavy object handy in case she decides to go on a rabid rampage.
