I can't resist. I just finished rereading the Lioness Quartet and have a little pseudo-canon clinging to my brain. Please excuse.
1. George commissions little portraits of Alanna often... though she's only aware of one of them (that she saw in a dream-vision so that's really cheating, honestly). He'd prefer to keep it this way and never have his wife be made aware of the secret compartment in the truck o' ears in which they are stored.
2. Speaking of, everything George owns would have a secret compartment if he could get away with it. As it stands, his carving holes into their possessions would start to piss Alanna after awhile.
3. George used to make up elaborate lies when he was little too see how long he could go without getting caught--this is how he practiced the grand art of remembering details... the punishments he received enforcing the lesson.
It's been a long time since he was last caught.
Mostly because he doesn't lie to his mother anymore after a certain incident. He just... omits a few things.
4. George knows that attempting to keep his wife out of trouble only results in her making other troubles.
His mother gets a certain nostalgic look in her eyes when she observes this and gives him a significant glance.
Birds of a feather, really, this husband and wife pair.
5. His mother has only lied to him once in his life, and it is the only time he's ever let himself believe something he knew wasn't true.
The truth? His mother never married his father.*
*George mentions his mother having married and leaving the temple in Alanna: The First Adventure, but Eleni seems to tell a different tale in Terrier via a journal entry.
P.S. Did anyone not have a crush on George, really?
