Right, so. Guess who hadn't seen The Iron Giant?

Guess who, in the interest of all things good and Brad Bird, finally did?

Guess who is now CRYING LIKE A LITTLE BITCH.

The Iron Giant continues to be my favorite animated movie in the history of ever. It's probably why Ratatouille, while being amazing and fantastic, really only made me get out the Incredibles and Iron Giant and love on them harder. Brad Bird gets the superhero mythos, grounds it, and then makes you care for them like real, ordinary people. Even if they are giant robots from space.

That part where he says he's Superman kind of makes me sob even on repeated viewings.

Seriously? Man, If I knew you hadn't seen it, I would have made you take our copy. It is a seriously awesome movie though, with the whole 50's/60's dichotomy and the kid being awesome, and the animation. And...oh yeah, the GIANT SPACE ROBOT OF FRIENDLY DOOM. But really, its not that sad; I mean, he seems to be getting better at the end...

I only laugh because I do the same goddamn thing every three months. "Hey! Maybe this time I won't spend the last twenty minutes of the movie sobbing so hard I'll have a migraine in the morning! Maybe this time will be completely unlike the previous forty times I have seen this movie."

Also please assume I have made a scathing comment about how long it has taken you to watch The Iron Giant, ok. KEEPIN' UP APPEARANCES.

It was the part with the deer that did me in. Maybe it is the PMS. Maybe it is the fact that I lost my childhood dog a month ago. But after that I had to put the movie on pause to COLLECT MYSELF. It was just "Oh, hah, Brad Bird's homage to Bamb--OH MY GOD NO WAH."

And then I got to the "Superman!" part and I was just INCONSOLABLE. until the last minute of the film, that is. Thank god for the last minute of the film. I'D NEVER BELIEVE IN LOVE AGAIN. I might have a thing about robot movies.
