I had an interview today! I think it went FABULOUSLY (it had better).
And then I went home and Googled my interviewer and man, I wonder if this is what it's like for people who unknowingly talk with famous people. (Don't know if this guy was famous, per se, but wow, he seemed pretty up there.)
Also, I had a mocha frappuccino. Can never go wrong with those.
Oh man that's always great. Good luck! Bet you nailed it. --I once had a funny instance where I was scheduled for an informational interview, I ended up googling the guy I was meeting with the hopes of learning something about his recent work so as not to come off as an idiot. I proceeded to discover he was a recent guest on the Colbert Report. WELL, THEN.
Nothing to make you feel unsuccessful like meeting someone who is! (also: OH COLBERT REPORT <333333 and Daily Show! You know, the latter show was actually what made me pay even the slightest bit of attention in politics. I'm more of a "hey let's quantify these idiots' mistakes into scientific terms" kinda gal.)
I have also been listening to the workshop demo of The Little Mermaid musical. I get to see it in two months :DDDD
Pretty pictures of foreign places are always nice. I just finished reading a guide to pick-pocketing and a story about a man having sex with a bear. This last one is not so nice.
... no I would imagine not (at least it's not the dolphin guide). But pretty pictures are pretty! Workplace has recently opened an exhibit on early photographs from the 19th century. The shots from India are the most striking.
Awesome people telling me I am awesome! ACE. ...and thanks. ♥
According to this here very reputable source, "Rennin, the enzyme obtained from the fourth stomach of a calf and used chiefly in the manufacture of cheese, is capable of coagulating more than 25,000 times its weight of fresh milk."
...Delicious and kind of gross counts as nice, right? Right?
I've been in a sort of funk lately, a lot of the people seem to be going through horrible catastrophic life-changing things going on— but, ah, it makes me really thankful to have the kind of life I do, it really puts things into perspective... ._.
B-but, ah--! That is not what you asked for!
Last night my tablet died. It was an Intuos 1— I'd had it for seven years— my parents got it for my 16th birthday. THAT IS NOT THE NICE PART THOUGH? I talked to my mom this morning, she likes to talk about the new kittens (as though they are her children, I have kind of been replaced. It is okay though) and we got on the subject about how my tablet had died but it was okay because I have enough disposable income right now to buy a new one. My mom goes, "oh, those cost about $300, right? I'll send you a check the next time I send you a letter (my mom sends me letters a lot)." So my mom is great and also she got me a new tablet!
My brother's birthday is tomorrow! Today I sent him a package (it will be a little late) with a note and a small figurine of GALVATRON. My brother is 31 years old, owns a house, has a PhD, works as a pharmacist... and some of his favorite things are still Dragon Ball Z and Transformers. H-HE NEEDS A GIRLFRIEND. ;_;
I went to Big Lots today and found EXCELLENT Japanese-imported cans of green tea for $.50 a piece! YES!
I heard this song being played live on the radio the other week and found a rip of it online! Woo! The guy's name is Luke Temple, he reminds me an awful lot of Johnny Cash. The song is so sad and whimsical and childish, it makes me really wistfully happy to listen to it.
You people and your snazzy tablets. That is awfully nice of your mom, though. And ahahah PEOPLE LIKE YOUR BROTHER GIVE US GEEKY GIRLS WHO ALWAYS THOUGHT THE TOYS THEY MADE FOR GUYS WERE COOLER HOPE IN THE WORLD. (screw Polly Pocket man! Those Mighty Max pocket toys were WAY MORE AWESOME)
Also, thank you for the song and the rest. I hope things are beginning to sort themselves out on your end, as you are awesome and deserve to have things going awesomely for you. ♥
Staring at it normally makes me feel loads better.
Also, today I discovered that they're starting to turn the Redwall books into graphic novels. I almost read the first one today when things got boring.
AHAHAHAAHA HERE'S SOMETHING ELSE THAT I FORGOT TO TELL YOU EARLIER:
This week on SGA was "Reunion," in which Ronon meets up with some people from Sateda and he has to choose to stay in Atlantis or to join them. The main guy of his trio of Satedan friends was played by the guy who plays the Chairman on Iron Chef America. I WISH I WAS KIDDING. IT WAS HILARIOUS.
FOR SERIOUS? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. OH MAN RONON. SOMEHOW EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU IS HEEELARIOUS.
And all I can say is the graphic novel had better be better than that stupid kid's cartoon they made of the books. REDWALL DOES NOT MAKE GOOD DAYTIME TV, PEOPLE. PEOPLE DIE HORRIBLY IN LIKE, EVERY CHAPTER. DOES ANYONE NOT REMEMBER THIS?
I babysat a fat baby today! He slept most of the time, but when he woke up from his nap he proceeded to stare at me with a look of incredible and hilarious bewilderment. Then we played with blocks and he stole the dog's chewtoy and we went upstairs to his room where he very methodically showed me every single one of his toys (of which, I assure you, there are many!), and then he decided he wanted to crawl into my lap and stay there, even after his mother came home.
When I am in a bad mood or depressed I usually go to my room and put on all the songs that have girls' names in the titles "Jesse's Girl," "Valerie," "Layla" and "Cecilia" (by far the best in my opinion) and just...sing like an absolute dork to them.
I am always interrupted at the part where the knees are involved. Usually in awkward can't be explained away postitions with horrible hand gestures. Trufax.
My friends and I are insane and after watching the movie Liar Liar, we decided to copy "The Claw" and proceeded to tickle each other silly while piling onto a twin bed and shouting loud enough to wake the dead. And then we started watching Braveheart and made hilariously inappropriate comments about the main character's pick-up lines and anatomy (srsly, he had skinny arms before he married the girl, and all of sudden, he turns buff!).
