Okay screw it FICBITS ARE ON. You know the drill: REQUEST CHARACTERS/PAIRING/SERIES AND I WILL ATTEMPT TO PRODUCE SOMETHING OF A VAGUELY APPROPRIATE LENGTH.

I can't think of any clever additions to it this time, so it'll just be a free-for-all. No points for stumping me. EXTRA points for anyone who requests Ergo Proxy of the whole three people on my f-list who've now watched it

I predict a duet between Pino and Waka. Don't laugh, I would totally pay to hear that.

[Ergo Proxy/Okami] Eyes Like Yours

“Was this a city?” wondered Re-l. The structure surrounding the area looked familiar enough. The markings in the ground were strange, though.

“I don’t think so,” said Vincent, shielding his eyes against noon glare. “It doesn’t…feel like it was. That tree’s the really strange part, though. It wasn’t here this morning was it?” It was there now, its blossoms scattering petals every which way. Pino chased them, twirling in circles, while Kristeva watched her with what for an Entourage looked like a patient fondness.

“No,” confirmed Re-l. “How long do they take to grow that large?”

“Um,” Vincent fished around in his head for a second. “A few hundred years. Less if you…do…something to it. Some kind of process. Uh. I think it involved tubes?”

“Take your time,” said Re-l.

“Doggy!” said Pino.

That got everyone’s attention.

Re-l hadn’t seen a dog in a long time. They existed in Romdo, but they were very rare: expensive luxury items, usually a companion-type autoreiv fashioned to resemble a living animal. This animal was real, though. It was larger than the models she’d chanced to see, with real muscles moving under its glossy coat. Its fur was white, faint red marking winding up its back and around it dark eyes. It sat under the tree, great tongue lolling from a set of large, powerful jaws. It hadn’t been there a second ago.

“I don’t think that’s a dog, Pino,” said Re-l.

Vincent stepped forward. “No. She’s a wolf right now.”

There wasn’t any glow in his eyes, but he said it so deep in the throat that Re-l reached for her belt anyway. The wolf got up, shaking petals out of her coat. Pino started in her direction, reaching desperately towards that large, fuzzy figure. Kirsteva scooped the little autoreiv up under her arm. There was no doing the same for Vincent, who stalked towards the beast. The wolf did the same, intent to meet him halfway. Re-l followed, keeping her hand on her weapon. There was no telling, with things like this. Vincent had that blank look in his face. The one he had when he wasn’t quite Vincent at the moment. The wolf stopped. He knelt.

And, a second later, extended his hand.

“Not a proxy, I take it,” said Re-l. When it had become clear the danger had passed, and Pino had decided it was time to play ‘fetch’ with a convenient fallen branch.

“Ah,” said Vincent, himself again more or less. They sat under the tree. He had his knees up, fiddling with his scuffed up bangs. “No…yes. Sort of. It’s hard to explain. She doesn’t go by the same rules, I don’t think. She’s very old.”

“How old?”

Vincent rubbed his head. “Older than me.”

“That’s pretty damn old.” Pino tripped. The wolf was on her in an instant—grabbing her by her hood, and setting her back on her feet. “Who made her?”

He dropped his hand. Under his eyelashes, his gaze went sharp. “No one,” he said, quietly. His hand went to his pendant. He thumbed it, once. There was something a little reverent about the gesture. Self-conscious, too. “But she has eyes like Ours, all the same.”
