...This is me not thinking of Gilgamesh/Enkidu slash. This is me really not thinking of Gilgamesh/Enkidu slash. This is me failing miserably.

Oddly enough, my favorite bit in this has to be Ishtar and Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh, there are tactful ways to dump a goddess, listing every one of her atrocities against former lovers is not one of them. Ishtar's resulting hissy fit is rather fun, though

...And then Enkidu dies. Damnit, I liked him. Much more interesting than our Brave Hero. I like the whole 'tamed animal' origins. The Harlot, incidently, is my favorite female in the text.

The preface to our version went on and on about how Enkidu and Gilgamesh were made for eachother. All I could think was oh, how romantic! And snicker over the idea of the gods sending their beloved child his very own boytoy to calm him down.
