One thing I do like about my job is that I can call things pertaining to it 'well hung' and it's a perfectly work safe comment. Oh, the Museum.

I think it's that time of year. I need to get my write on, and to do that I need to get my ramble on, and also fair's fair, so I'm going to go and steal this old diddy from [livejournal.com profile] puella_nerdii:

Give me a character I have written, and I will list three facts about them from my personal headcanon.

-can sing in perfect pitch, in multiple octaves, in several different languages, although it was Latin he knew first. The voice of a nation, he's got. Although he can't actually sing castrato anymore. Those aren't allowed anymore. :(

-is actually, believe it or not, a remarkable taskmaster in the kitchen. If you catch him in the middle of cooking EXPECT TO BE ORDERED AROUND A BIT and doing much dodging as he gesticulates WITH THE KNIFE. Things must be done PERFECTLY. He's a real stickler for this. Ludwig once offered to help him make a dinner and wound up going 'YESSIR' all evening. It was a strange experience. But dinner was fantastic.

- is more batty and worldweary than he usually lets on. Came to the conclusion along time ago that he prefers to be remembered for his art and his culture and his love than for conquest (he's bad at conquest anyway. oh we're fascist now? okay. ciao.) He loves his people more than anything. As far as the Hetalia cast goes, Feliciano's the one who spends some of the most downtime on the streets with his general populace, chattering to just about anyone, rather than constantly shadowing his political leaders. You're more likely to find him as a street painter in one of the piazzas or tearing down a street top speed on a moped then anywhere else. (...he's sent Ludwig flying with this last one) He loves visiting new little family run restaurants and going to museums and and and!! He's everywhere except the conference room, basically.

...I'm kind of in love with your headcanon. If a bit sad that Feliciano can't sing castrato anymore.

The image of Feliciano ordering Ludwig around for once, and Ludwing following, fills me with glee. As does the image of Feliciano and Ludwig riding together through one of Italy's cities on a moped.

Thanks! :D

-when using human names his sisters call him 'Vanya', as though he were still a little boy. this is in part disciplinary, since his older sister has a habit of using it to emphasis that she's not happy with him for something, as she's opted not to call him by his TRUE name, which is, well. Russia.

-he can't really feel his fingertips and toes anymore, due to severe frostbite in the winter and his general size. He once took off his gloves to a rather thoroughly horrified Lithuania, who immediately ran for some salves. He thought that was a bit of a funny reaction to something so silly. Eh, it is nothing! Sometimes, I cannot feel my nose!

-Answers perfectly well to 'Motherland' and in fact is rather fond of it. In fact, if you wish to call him Mother he'll be rather flattered. He does THINK of himself as having a very strong maternal streak, yes! (there was a time when under Elisabeth I, that he wore dresses and went to very fabulous balls) Mother shall do his best to take care of you.

-was the one who gave the Oina their prophecy regarding the sword! When he crashed in the lake, he was injured and taken in by an Oina who didn't really know the danger that came from harboring him. In payment, he gave them that prophecy, and then fled as far south as he could.

-the reason he was absent for the first battle with Orochi was because he was held up fighting Ninetails at the capital. He's the one who gave her the scar across her eye, actually. She was itching to really get at him for that. When he finally made it to the village he was much, much too late and it's a fact that he's regretted for a very long time.

-was actually the previous carrier of the water tablet, to match the fact that you get the fire tablet from Kaguya. He gave it to the Emperor after he buried Himiko: ...because yeah, he was the one who laid her to rest in the water. He'd been quite fond of her. She'd known her fate and accepted it bravely, and she reminded him of someone he knew long ago. (There are those who say she loved him, but alas, it could not be! For all knew that Ushiwaka's heart was set only on the rising sun... well, that's what the poets say, anyway)

-okay one more because these are all friggin' depressing: HAS BEEN ISHAKU'S DRINKING BUDDY FOR THE LAST 100 YEARS. He just drops in from time to time across the decades, and pretty much knows just about every single one of Issun's most embarrassing childhood stories. Oh, and the baby pictures. He's seen the baby pictures, too.

Iggy!

Or Delita, if there's too much Hetalia.
From: [identity profile] moonsheen.livejournal.com
-has a gigantic complex about his land mass. No, really. Pretty much one of the surefire ways to get him really fired up is to remind him he's a cranky little island (ISLES, thank you very much!) Bugger off. So what if France is three times his size, HE still had the bigger and better empire, thank you very much. (although if you mention he's not an empire anymore he WILL have vapors)

-managed to avoid having to dance up into the 1500s! Mostly because FRANCE USED TO LAUGH AT HIS ATTEMPTS. It was Elizabeth who finally forced him onto the floor. She was a very active woman and she sort of demanded the same from him (in spite of the fact he wasn't exactly the picture of fitness at the start of her reign thanks to the disaster that was poor Mary's rule). She taught him all those leaping steps that were popular in that period, and pretty much laughed at how absolutely ungainly he was at it. But he would be damned if there were any finer partner in the world. (AND ROBERT DUDLEY COULD JUST GO HANG. And... oh don't get him started on Devereux.)

-To the US:

"When I was your age--"

"...you painted yourself blue and ran around naked, right?"

"WHO THE HELL TOLD YOU THAT."

(answer: France.)

-okayokay for real: he is deeply relieved by these modern day suits for their blessed lack of tights and knee britches. (cannot be convinced sweater vests aren't THE thing, though) Although he, personally, thought he looked the most dashing in the 19th century. He keeps one of those in his wardrobe still, with the dear, distant hope that might be IN again one day.

-Souji actually got brought home by the police one night not long before he moved to Inaba on a few counts of damage to public property and possibly some assault and battery as well. He was let off on some technicality, but it was the deciding factor on whether or not his parents were going to allow him to live on his own while they were out of the country. The answer wound up being: no, you're going to your uncle, who is a COP, and you're GOING TO BEHAVE.

-Which Souji tries his hardest to do. This is difficult. He's very snarky and combative by nature. He's got a relatively even temper, but if you rile him he really gets REALLY RILED and this has brought the above trouble on him in the past. The way I see it with the dialogue options: the most polite option is what he's saying, but the snarkiest, bitchiest one is what he's often THINKING. He really wants to prove he's a good kid, though. :( Even if it meant getting that stupid bowlcut to look more straightedged(it used to be wild as hell)

-canonically dates Yosuke.

Wait.

I mean canonically dates EVERYONE because I really can't decide.

-is ridiculously intelligent! Knows several ancient languages, has a good grounding in architecture spanning over a thousand years, and knows what a dumbwaiter is. He has all of the grounding required of someone who is essentially the paranormal equivalent of Indiana Jones. He spent a lot of his youth roving from university to university and crashing all sorts of classes (and parties). He knows a little bit about everything and a lot pertaining to his particular business of slogging through ancient castles fighting nasties. That said, he's also weirdly closeted about it. He hides National Geographics inside of titty magazines okay. But everyone knows what he's really reading.

-is, indeed, Italian. Nero lives in Not!Rome, and Dante lives in not!Florence. He actually comes from a little more north than that, but he migrated after his mother died.

- ...contrary to what he nearly always claims, he actually LOVES kids. Considering the fact he knows every single ice cream parlor in the city, and considering he is not exactly the most normal looking person in the world, he often winds up in conversation with them. They're easily impressed by him and Dante loves it when people are impressed by him in general. His secret ambition is to one day have a few himself. Like, a whole sports team of 'em. He has shared this with no one and won't be doing so for a very, very long time.
